We all have a story to tell.
What is yours?

Rachel C. Smith, Licensed Professional Counselor

If you have found yourself on this page, there is a reason.

Grief? Loss? Pain? Suffering? Hopelessness?

Whatever your reason and whatever your story - I am glad you are here.

Most of us spend years avoiding our stories - our experiences, our pain and suffering, and our mistakes. In a western culture that operates on comparison, perfection, and success, admitting the truth of what we have experienced, done, and who we believe ourselves to be is often terrifying. Yet, as human beings, we ultimately cannot avoid our own stories. Our stories affect us and eventually catch up to us, often times leaving us feeling numb, helpless, and hopeless.

Counseling can awaken us.

Counseling can awaken us to understand our experiences and ourselves. Counseling can awaken us to find hope and purpose in the midst of a story we previously viewed as shameful and meaningless. Counseling can awaken us to find freedom from guilt and shame. Counseling can awaken us to recognize we are more beautiful and resilient than we could ever have imagined. Counseling can awaken us to embrace and love our stories - stories that deserve to be told.
