All is as Light to Me

I am soaring above the clouds, gazing out the small oval window, mesmerized by the brilliant afternoon rays bouncing off the clouds and streaming onto my lap. It's radiant.
"Good afternoon, passengers. We are about to begin our descent. The current temperature upon our arrival will be about 40degrees with strong winds and a very overcast and cloudy sky."
I find myself laughing a little. What a contrast. From up here, with this beautiful and bright view, you would never imagine that just below others are experiencing a dark and dreary day. And I find myself wishing I could stay up above the clouds and in the light forever.
That's when I hear Him whisper: "All is as light to me..."

And the words penetrate into my soul. Into my hurt and heartbreak and regret. Into all of the wounded places I hold my questions, my confusion, and my sorrow.
And I feel my perspective shifting.
The God who is close to the broken-hearted, the One who comforts all who mourn. The God who longs to make all things new, to restore the years the locusts have eaten. The God who is Immanuel, God with us, THIS GOD -- all is as light to Him.
And this God, the One to whom all is light, desires to bring that light-filled radiance down -- heaven down to earth. His presence, His way, His glory -- heaven down to earth.
As I descend down through the clouds and into the dark and dreary, I find myself still fixated on the light. And trusting that the clouds will break and the light will shine through because my God has declared darkness has not overcome the light.
His perspective? It changes everything.
Our God is not fighting His way out of a dark and dreary place. He is not looking up from the darkness and into the light. He IS the light, at all times, and this light, HIS LIGHT, continues to breakthrough, come down, and make all things new.
All is as light to Him. At all times. And in all places.
May we have eyes to see.
